Cuyamaca College Welcomes Students to Campus for Fall Semester

The Fall Semester is rapidly approaching, and Cuyamaca College is gearing up to welcome students back to campus. From August 21-25, the college will be hosting Welcome Week activities; full of which includes a full schedule of free events to introduce new and returning students to the campus community.

All students – those who attend virtually and in-person – are welcome to attend all events. Parking permits will not be required during the Fall Semester. Please do not park in spaces marked for staff or the disabled.

Welcome Week Schedule:

Monday

Information Tables: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm / 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

If you need help finding your classes or locating popular spots on campus, stop by one of the information tables.

Location: B Building & F Building.

Family Health Care Center SD Fall 2023 Tabling Event: 9:00 am -12:00 pm

Meet with a FHCSD Patient Engagement Specialist in directly booking general medicine appointments, health care enrollment assistance with MediCal or Covered California, and referrals to FHCSD.

Location: lower-level student center (I Building).

Personal Counseling & Health Center Resources: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Students can meet the Personal Counselors and the Health Center staff and learn more about the programs and resources. Students will receive a free snack for stopping by the table.

Location: G-Building Courtyard

Meet & Greet your Librarians: 9:00 am – 11:00 am

This is a great opportunity to meet the librarians and learn more about the library and what it offers.

Location: Outside the Library

Pizza, Pepsi, and the President: 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm

Students can stop by and meet Dr. Robinson, Cuyamaca College President while enjoying some free pizza and pepsi. This event is a great informal setting for asking our college president any questions that you may have about the campus and current initiatives.

Student Leaders: Ice-Cream Event: 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Stop by for free ice-cream and the opportunity to meet your Cuyamaca student leaders.

Come and join us for an open house at the Queer Student Center. Participants will learn more about the new resource center, explore our LGBTQIA2s+ focused programs, and find community!

Coyote Den Open House: 11:30 am – 3:00 pm

Come and join us for an open house at the Coyote Den and check out the pantry. You will have an opportunity to explore the programs offered through Cuyamaca Cares including housing and food resources.

Come by to checkout our center and learn about our Student Services and Special Programs that help serve academically and economically disadvantaged students (EOPS: Extended Opportunities Programs and Services), single parents students (CARE: Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education), foster, and homeless students (NextUp / UP: Unlimited Potential) and CalWORKs students (CalWORKs: California Work Opportunities & Responsibilities to Kids). You can access our satellite food pantry that is open to all students and pick up FREE school supplies. We are excited to meet and serve you!

Stop by to meet your Cuyamaca student leaders and learn more about student involvement. Free food will be given out to all participants.

Open Mic Event: 12:00 pm – 1:45 pm

Open Mic hosted by and with featured performances from Black Xpressions and the Young, Gifted, & Black Student Organization. Young, Gifted, and Black club info: Young, Gifted and Black is a student organization that prioritizes the amplification of the artistic expression of black students through a covering of a supportive and positive campus community open to all students. Come by and hop on the mic to share poetry, sing, dance, tell a story, or simply sit in and enjoy! Event Catered by Chef Buddha Soul Food Truck.

Student Health and Wellness and Paws to Share: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Come visit with friendly canines and their handlers from Paws to Share to de-stress and learn about Student Health & Wellness Services. Presented by Student Health and Wellness Services.

Student Game Day with the Secret Coyote Society Club: 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Come enjoy some free snacks and play some games with the members of the Secret Coyote Club.

ASG Lunch & Meet the Officers: 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

You will have the opportunity to attend the Associated Student Government meeting and learn more about ways to become involved.
