Grossmont College earns spot in top 100 colleges for Latinx students

EL CAJON – Grossmont College has earned a spot on the list of “Top 100 Colleges and Universities for Hispanics,” as ranked by Hispanic Outlook on Education magazine. The list includes institutions across the United States that enroll the highest number of Latinx students. Grossmont College placed 72nd. For the 2020-2021 academic year, Grossmont College had a 35 percent Latinx student body.

In addition to being a Hispanic-Serving Institution, Grossmont College works to support Latinx students through academic programs, student services and student life. Grossmont College has two Puente cohorts, a learning community that provides Latinx students with dedicated student support, instruction and mentorship.  

Grossmont College also supports and celebrates Latinx students through its on-campus Dream Center, Latinx Heritage Month celebrations and Latinx graduation celebrations. The college’s Outreach Department is also working to engage the Latinx community in San Diego’s East County through cultural nights, dedicated workshops and community visits.  

Grossmont College has served the diverse educational needs of East County and beyond since 1961.
